Neil has been a District Councillor for Aston since 2003 and a County Councillor since 2017. Neil has proven to be a strong voice for Aston, supporting local groups to improve the community, for example, he has supported initiatives to boost employment particularly for young people. He also supports a number of Armed Forces Charities and is passionate about helping ex-servicemen and women gain employment.
Neil has been the Authority Chairman twice 2010/11 and 2014/15. He serves on a number of outside bodies to including: Donington Park Racing Circuit Liaison Committee, East Midlands Airport Consultative Committee (ICC) and Elvaston Castle Garden Trust Sub-Committee.
Neil has served on many committees over the years representing the wards best interests. He currently serves on the Overview and Scrutiny Panel, Licensing, Standards and the Audit Sub-Committee.
During his term of office, he is currently the Member Champion for the Armed Forces Covenant.
