The £35 million regeneration project at Elvaston Castle has taken a step forward being supported by Derbyshire County Council and will be going to South Derbyshire District Council to seek planning approval. It will include the construction of a new access road, the uplifting of older buildings and the restoration of inside the castle.
The upgrading of facilities including catering, a new café, adventure playground and camping facilities for caravans, motor homes and tent on the former campsite will give the local economy a massive boost, creating jobs and bringing in income to the local area.
Councillor Neil Atkin said “I fully support the proposal and welcome the boost it will give to the local area.
“This five year project funding by the County Council, National Lotter Heritage fund and D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership is an exciting project which will benefit all.
“By investing in this project we will see a massive return for the people of Derbyshire, bringing in tourists and giving local people a place to go to relax and have fun with the family
