The Conservative run Derbyshire County Council has recently announced that Elvaston Castle will receive £700,000 of funding to help regenerate the historic buildings. This extra funding will help to convert the Coach House and Clock Tower to create a visitors hub.
The funding will support the creation of retail, catering, hospitality, office and workshop facilities which when completed will help bring in revenue to guarantee Elvaston Castles future.
Conservative Councillor Neil Atkin said, “I welcome the extra funding from Derbyshire County Council, by investing in Elvaston Castle it will not only guarantee it gets the repairs needed but it will also secure it’s long-term future.
The new facilities will boost the local economy and create jobs for people in our area. I believe it is important that we invest in projects like this to protect our heritage and support local jobs, especially after the pandemic has had such an impact on businesses and society.”
