Heather Wheeler, MP for South Derbyshire is thrilled with yesterday’s news that Rolls-Royce has committed its Derby plant to be the production hub for the new Trent XWB engine for the Airbus A350. This has culminated in a £30 million investment in the Derby site to ensure it is fully equipped with the increase in demand, forecasts show an output of 300 Trent XWBs a year over the next three to four years.
Heather said “This is such wonderful news just in time for Christmas; I hope that it allays many of the fears of all Rolls-Royce workers, including those from South Derbyshire.
“It has been a turbulent few months for Rolls-Royce and I am delighted that they will end the year on such a high” finished Mrs Wheeler.
