South Derbyshire District Council has been handed the Development of the Year Award by the Chartered Institute of Housing at its Midlands regional awards ceremony.
Cllr Jim Hewlett, Chairman of Housing and Community Services at the District Council, said: “What fantastic news to be taking home an award for this development - which I have to say is much deserved.”
“We’re delighted with this scheme and the wonderful spacious homes it has offered people on the housing register, who were in need of good quality housing at an affordable cost. Congratulations to all involved.”
The prize was given for the collaborative approach to delivering 22 family homes and bungalows across two sites in Swadlincote and Overseal in 2015-16.
The £2.4 million project saw energy efficient family homes and bungalows built on areas of disused land.
